Handle Plan Limits and Upgrades
Understand free-tier limits, what happens when you exceed them, and how to request a paid upgrade.
Last updated: Dec 8, 2025
SQLitePilot’s free plan keeps things simple but enforces a few limits. Here is how to spot them, what to do when you reach them, and how to request more capacity.
Free-plan limits
- SSH Keys: store one key at a time on the Keys page.
- Connections: keep one saved connection on the Connections page.
- Database downloads: download files that are 1 MB or smaller from the Dashboard. Larger files require an upgrade.
Paid plans remove the key and connection caps and raise the download size limit to 1 GiB per database export.
How limits appear in the app
- On Keys and Connections, the Add new button becomes disabled and a blue notice explains the limit with a link to Upgrade.
- On the Dashboard, the Download .db button shows a message if the file is larger than the free allowance.
Your options when you hit a limit
- Delete something: remove an old key or connection to free the slot instantly.
- Upgrade: if you need more than one key or connection, or downloads up to 1 GiB, request the paid plan.
How to request an upgrade
- Open Upgrade or click any upgrade link in the notices.
- Fill in your contact details plus a short note about what you need (for example “need two production connections”).
- Submit the form. Our team follows up by email and flips your account to the paid plan.
- Refresh your browser tab. The notices disappear and the buttons unlock automatically.
Quick tips
- Keep a spare key ready so you can swap credentials quickly if needed.
- Note the size of your
.dbfiles; if they are usually bigger than 1 MB, plan to upgrade before you need to download them. - Use the Report a Bug page if a limit message looks wrong.
Knowing how limits work makes it easy to decide when to upgrade and keeps your team productive.
